Cambodia Stops Issuing Passport Visa Stickers at Its Embassies and Consulates: Pre-Arranged Visas Move to e-Visa

From 3 October 2026, Cambodian embassies and consulates no longer issue passport visa stickers. Pre-arranged visas go through the official e-Visa portal. What OTAs, tour operators and airlines should change.

Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) has directed all overseas embassies and consulates to stop issuing visa stickers in passports, effective Saturday 3 October 2026. The Royal Cambodian Honorary Consulate in Osaka published the notice on 4 October. It asks all applicants, including individual travelers and travel agencies, to apply through the official e-Visa portal at evisa.gov.kh, and says processing takes about 5 to 7 working days.

The notice adds two details. Consulates in Osaka, Fukuoka and elsewhere no longer accept or issue paper visas at the counter. The Embassy in Tokyo has also stopped stickers, but still accepts e-Visa applications at its counter. Other missions may offer similar counter help; check before you route a customer there.

This note is for OTAs, tour operators and airlines. It is not legal advice. Cambodian authorities decide on visas and entry.

What OTAs and tour operators should do

01

Remove "embassy sticker visa" options from Cambodia booking flows, group-visa workflows and agency instructions.

02

Plan lead time. Five to seven working days means late bookings need the e-Visa started immediately.

03

Groups and agency batches. Agencies that used to batch passports at a consulate now need one e-Visa per traveler. Budget the data-entry time.

04

Only use the official portal. Point customers to evisa.gov.kh and warn against look-alike sites.

What airlines should know

Passengers with a pre-arranged Cambodian visa will now usually carry an e-Visa printout or PDF. Brief check-in staff on Cambodia routes so they don't treat a missing sticker as missing documentation.
Valid stickers issued before 3 October should still be presented as usual. The notice concerns issuance, not cancellation of existing visas.
The notice does not say anything about visa on arrival. Don't change visa-on-arrival rules on the strength of this notice.

Whether the e-Visa portal has added visa categories previously available only as stickers.

A consulate notice changed how agencies get Cambodian visas. Coverage alerts send one email per change. Where a requirements feed stops and a filing channel starts is in Timatic and modern visa APIs.
