Suriname's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Cooperation announced on 29 September 2026 that, from 1 October 2026, the government is temporarily reintroducing the visa requirement for nationals of Mexico and Bolivia travelling on a national (ordinary) passport. The ministry links the change to recent migration developments from those countries.
This note is for airlines and OTAs. It is not legal advice. Surinamese authorities decide on entry.
What the notice says
The notice asks airlines, travel agencies and other stakeholders to take the new conditions into account when booking, planning and operating trips.
What airlines should do
Update Timatic overrides and station briefings for Paramaribo (PBM) and connecting routes. A Mexican or Bolivian ordinary passport without a Surinamese visa is now a boarding risk.
Check bookings already made for travel on or after 1 October.
What OTAs should do
Add a visa prompt for Mexican and Bolivian passports on Suriname itineraries, including multi-country Guianas trips.
Don't present it as permanent. The ministry calls it temporary and under review, so plan to re-check.
What we have not verified
A two-line notice in Dutch changed boarding rules for two nationalities. Coverage alerts send one email per change for the destinations you sell. What airlines already check before boarding is in travel border rules.
Coverage alerts send one email per rule change for the destinations you pick, from the partner console. Systems can take the same events as webhooks; the shape is in the developer docs. The live requirement for any passport is always in the requirements checker.
